Eastern Province

The EP region is based in Port Elizabeth and serves the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro as well as the western half of the Eastern Cape. It is involved in conservation and environmental education, the latter focussed mainly on implementing the Eco-Schools programme. WESSA participates on various environmental management committees in the region and plays a general watchdog role to ensure compliance with environmental legislation. Conservation projects are directly linked with our education outreach.
A Regional Committee is appointed at an annual meeting of members and serves to support the Regional Manager and staff and to provide links with the membership, the Grahamstown branch, Friends groups and other environmental organisations.  The region works closely with other environmental organisations such as the Born Free Foundation, South African Marine Rehabilitation and Environmental Centre and the Zwartkops Conservancy to implement its goals of conservation and environmental education.
