e-STEAM Programme

e-STEAM is changing the way children think and learn.

In today’s rapidly changing, high-tech world, young people need an education that equips them to thrive. Apart from traditional skills and knowledge, education needs to spark curiosity, stimulate creativity and encourage critical thinking and problem solving.

This is the concept behind STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) education. And at WESSA, we’ve not only embraced the concept, we’ve added an extra crucial component … the environment.

e-STEAM is an engaging enrichment programme that blends environmental education with the school curriculum to address pressing societal and environmental concerns. Using a series of capacity-building worshops and challenges, we enable teachers and learners to incorporate the process into their own classrooms and lessons.

e-STEAM helps solve real world environmental issues

Through a carefully crafted 8-step process, students dive into real-world environmental issues and collaborate to devise creative solutions. By identifying challenges and implementing strategies, learners are empowered to take ownership of their education and become proactive agents of change.

Working together, each group is able to solve specific problems, while also achieving curriculum outcomes and objectives for each subject. Thus, the approach thus is interdisciplinary and cross-curricular in nature.

Imagine a future where graduates aren’t just job seekers, but job creators. By nurturing creativity and entrepreneurial thinking, the e-STEAM programme empowers learners to contribute to South Africa’s economy and address social inequalities. Whether through ground-breaking inventions or simple yet impactful solutions, students are driving positive change and inspiring others to follow.
