Portfolio: NED

Mbalenhle is an academic, a businesswoman, a globetrotter and a lover of nature. Research and education is her passion, and a big component of her professional life as it permits her academic knowledge to inform her economic skills. Mbalenhle is a firm believer that in a society like South Africa, where past social injustices are rife, representation matters, particularly in academic spaces. In 2020, she was acknowledged as one of SAICA’s Top 35 Under 35 Finalists for the contribution she has made in furthering the goals of the profession, excelling in her work, and giving back to the community around her. She has produced several academic publications and presented at numerous conferences in her field. Before joining UNISA where she holds the position as Associate Professor of Accounting Science, she worked as a Financial Manager at Eskom for a period of four years.
