Twinstreams

Situated within a pristine dune forest, Twinstreams Environmental Education Centre is located at Mtunzini in Zululand.

Mangroves, estuaries, long stretches of beach, magnificent birding and forest hikes are some of the life-changing experiences awaiting you in this rehabilitated coastal dune forest.

Educational programmes at Twinstreams stimulate personal growth and qualities such as responsibility, initiative and leadership, while ensuring real-life learning for a sustainable future.

Proud history

Established in 1952 by Dr Ian Garland, Twinstreams is the oldest education eco-camp in Africa!

Thousands of young people – from school children to university students – attend our courses every year. Here, they enjoy practical hands-on activities designed to encourage learning. We teach them about coastal dune forests, climate change, dune succession, catchment management and mangroves. There’s also plenty of fun built in to our courses, with mud baths being an unforgettable experience, and much enjoyed by the younger boys!

Twinstreams also offers opportunities to conduct scientific research, and team-bulding camps and activities for schools, teachers, municipalities and corporates.
